Hi,
Nice site and articles. I'm sorry that you witnessed such a terrible puppy shipping event. I ship puppies fairly often and have not had many negative experiences. I use nonstop flights when possible and if they have to change planes, I call the airline and speak to the cargo people at the airport along the way. I have to think that the shipper was not on top of things with that poor puppy.
When I travel with a dog in the cargo bay, I make sure the dog is loaded before I let them leave the gate. Most of the time the flight attendants and pilots understand my concerns. Shipping live animals is not big business for the airlines and they raise the rates every year, so we need to be careful. Don't assume everything is OK, make sure it is!

Thanks Becky. I know it was hard for you to stay with the luggage as it was hard for me to leave the airport not knowing the "final" outcome.

This was devastating. Although I wanted to do something, I had to stay back to watch the luggage. I am so grateful to Sue that she took action. I hope more people step up and fight for dog's rights. I also hope the new owner has filed a complaint with the airline. And I certainly hope the puppy arrived safely to a new, warm loving home and does not suffer from cage fright!
Kudos to you, Sue!
